Nowadays it's easy to buy a SIM card in Brazil than in 2012 but still, in some stores, people would be surprised that a tourist wants to buy a local SIM card without Brazilian document (CPF).
There are 4 national Operators: Vivo, Tim, Claro and Oi. The average price would be around 10 BRL and including data, calls and texts. Better to buy it in mobile provider stores because they can help you with registration without CPF.
To get a prepaid SIM card you just need a passport and a local address ( address of the hotel where you stay)
