Istanbul is a city of fantastic history, culture and beauty. With one arm reaching out to Asia and the other to Europe, İstanbul is the only city in the world built on two continents.
İstanbul was the capital of three empires: Roman, Byzantine and the Ottoman Empires. It was beautified accordingly with magnificent monuments and became a metropolis where diverse cultures, nations and religions mingled. Those cultures, nations and religions are the small pieces that form the mosaic of İstanbul.
It is İstanbul's endless variety that fascinates its visitors. The museums, churches, palaces, grand mosques, bazaars and sites of natural beauty are countless.

Sultan Ahmed Mosque
Also known as the Sultan Ahmet Camii (or Sultan Ahmed Mosque), this breath-taking building is one of the most majestic Ottoman mosques in all of Turkey. It is advised to dress respectfully when visiting, although shawls and outer garments are given at the door if necessary.
Topkapi Palace Museum
Set on top the most visible hill of Istanbul, Topkapi Palace, is the symbol of the city. Opulent, decadent and steeped in history, it offers visitors a chance to get to know the Sultans of the Ottoman Empire rather more intimately.
Underground Cistern
Known locally as Yerebatan Sarayi (meaning Sunken Palace) or Yerebatan Sarnici (Sunken Cistern), this underground water cistern was the major water reservoir of Constantinople. The water was transported from the Belgrade Forest by the immense Byzantine aqueducts (Valens Aqueducts).
